Scientists Discover Heavenly Solar Music
Tags: 91.9, bangalore india, bengaluru, kenny jones, on air with kenny jones, radio indigo, sheffield university, solar musicToday On Air with Kenny Jones, we learned of a new type of music…SOLAR MUSIC!
It’s musical sounds created by longitudinal vibrations within the Sun’s atmosphere..whatever the hell that is? They have been recorded and accurately studied for the first time by experts at the University of Sheffield. The eggheads over there are shedding light on the Sun’s magnetic atmosphere.
have a look at what “solar music” looks like…

Using state-of-the-art mathematical theory combined with satellite observations, a team of solar physicists from the University have captured the music on tape and revealed the harmonious sounds are caused by the movement of giant magnetic loops in the solar corona — the outermost, mysterious, and least understood layer of the Sun’s atmosphere…i know, i know, it sounds made up. Most importantly, the team studied how this sound is decaying, giving an unprecedented insight into the physics of the solar corona.
Now they’re taking it one step further – they’re cutting an album of all of the solar music’s greatest hits – and its burning up the charts – along with everything else…

it was interesting when they were doin’ it in the name of science, now they’re just tryin’ to turn a quick buck. Perhaps with record sales up that grant money could go to study Cow Burps, the impact of Wet Underwear on Thermoregulatory Responses and Ultrasonic Velocity in Cheddar Cheese…and yeah, that’s a thing!

concert for…..dogs?
Tags: laurie anderson, lou reed concert for dogs, on air with kenny jonesToday On Air with Kenny Jones – the gang reported on a concerto in australia for….wait for it…wait for it…DOGS!

No, the cat was not the talent…what do you wanna cause a riot?
Organised by American musician Laurie Anderson and her rock legend husband Lou Reed, the Music For Dogs event featured a surreal concerto of high-pitch whistles, synthesizers and strings.
The programme did not go as far as listing The Barker of Seville or The Marriage of Fido, but for the hundreds of dogs who gathered at the Sydney Opera House, it was still an unusually cultured day out.
While some of the pieces were beyond the range of human ears, they sent the concert’s four-legged patrons into a
frenzy.
“It was really so fantastic. All the dogs were really grooving on the music. They really seemed to enjoy themself,” said Ms Anderson.
The 20-minute concert opened with a set featuring whale calls and soothing white noise, before moving through a rhythm and beat section to a discordant crescendo almost drowned out by hundreds of barks and howls.
maybe it’s just me, but those dog above seem oddly satisfied by the concerto.
“We’ve got some singing dogs down here in the mosh pit,” joked Ms Anderson, who led the four-piece band with a variety of instruments including slide whistle, violin and synthesizers.
Organisers said that dog owners brought around 1,000 pets to enjoy the free event. Check out some footage of the concerto…
So what are your pets’ favorite tracks? Do they like rock? Maybe it’s hip-hop? Rap? Classical? let us know – please post. Who knows maybe we’ll spin ‘em for your furry friend!!!!
